Hearsay regarding transfer of activities

R&D is concerned about the poor management of the proposed re-organisation of some laboratories, e.g. in IHCP, IES and IRMM.  Read our letter to our Director General at this page.

  1. An informed and substantial review of many projects and activities in the JRC appears needed, including to prioritise and to ensure value-for-money as well as added value by JRC. This goes beyond just the labs.

Sitting on the fence, also for the labs but equally for many projects, is not helping anyone.

A list of priorities for the JRC that reflects those of the EC in an informed manner would be good for staff at all levels; going beyond recent priority documents that appear to reflect most of what JRC does anyway. It would also be good to have transparent replies on projects and work packages in relation to policy impact/priority, as well as added value and/or if some functions, including from labs, could be better performed elsewhere for policy DGs. Transparency would be equally inline with recent commitments from some Directors in relation to critical results from the staff survey; many reflecting inputs from highly educated and very experienced professionals at all levels of the hierarchy.
